Kathmandu 2019

Kathmandu, my birthplace, a chaotic chant of temples, alleys, smoke belching vehicles in narrow streets, jostling with people coming down from the Himalayas, Tibet, China and up from India, central hills and Terai in the South.

Meet the explosion of sounds from the temple bells, ancient stone paved streets, colours and history that has come alive. It is a life mesmerising, lived and worshipped. A sacred land where Lord Shiva comes to rest from the mountains of Kailash in Tibet, after his meditation. Birthplace of Lord Buddha and play ground of thousands of deities and Gods. A place where my heart belongs, a place like no else on earth. A big lake once, a valley city created when Bodhisattva (An ‘enlightened’ human in Buddhism) Manjushree carved off a hill and draining the water out.

A city bristling with thousands upon thousands of Hindu and Buddhists temples, squares, ancient houses, streets, water sources, fountains, gardens, stone and wooden craft works and palaces.
